Topic 5: Legalized marijuana

The use of marijuana has just been legalized in Colorado and Washington.  Do you think marijuana should be, or ever will be legalized in your country?  Why or why not?  (try not to blame the people who use marijuana or the people who voted for its legalization ;-)

  1. Well! In my country, i do not think marijuana will be legalized. Because my country are strict about drugs and punishes the drugs dealer strictly. So, i think my country should not legalized the use of marijuana because marijuana is not common in my country. On the other hand, i see my openion has changed a little bit about legalizing the use of marijuana in the US. Although i do not smoke at all but i think marijuana should be legalized in the US to decrease the presoners, Ganges, smoking secrite and crimes.

    3. not only for the prison issue, I think the tax will get down if they pass the prop.
That's why this question is like a two sides of a coin.

  2. I don't think marijuana will be legalized in my country because we take drinking and smoking very seriously. I cannot drink or smoke at home. I understand that marijuana is used for medical purposes and that is okay because it is for a good cause. You hear a lot of stories here where marijuana leads to many deaths/accidents that could be avoided easily. I don't know how something like marijuana became legalized in some states here but I know it might never be in my country.

    1. I totally agree with you Aziz. Although it could be said that the recreational use of marijuana is like the use of cigars and alcohol, I strongly believe that those drugs had to be prohibited too.

  3. I don't know if marijuana will be legalized in Taiwan, or only for medicine used. I google the related information about marijuana in Taiwan, it shows that marijuana is still banned. In many other countries, marijuana is treated as soft drug and you can buy easily in some places. Yet in Taiwan, it is thought to be 2nd dangerous drug. You will be addicted too once you take it. So I think marijuana isn't legalized in Taiwan.

    1. And it should not be legalized! If we go this way, soon it will be seen children buying and drinking alcohol and smoking, because it was believed that a little admonition would not do any harm.

  4. This has been a hot topic in Colombia for years.
It is said that recreational use of marijuana is allowed, if the minimum dose is used, nevertheless, it is not approved socially, and Colombian citizens look at it with suspiciously.
Moreover, I could not agree with the legalization of a toxin for recreational purposes, because research have found damages inflicted in the Central Nervous System due to the use of this drug.
Hence I will not support a proposal like this, it is known that smoking marijuana causes addiction, and addiction leads to crime. And I hate crime.

  5. I don't think marijuana should be legalized and it will not be legalized in Korea. In Korea, using drug is not common issue as much as U.S. as I know. Actually I was surprised with legalization f marijuana in Colorado and Washington. I read an article about legalization of hard drug. The people who agrees with legaization says that the costs of imprisoning and crime which is caused by drug can be decreased. But I don't agree and I think using drug should be banned in Korea.

    2. The legalization of marijuana on Washington is so surprising. My friend suggest me to go there for tasting marijuana cake. I haven't tried this before and I am not an addict for cigarette. Moreover I still want to try because of my curiosity. :p However, it should not be legalized.

  6. To my opinion, marijuana should not be legalized because there are too many disadvantages for marijuana's legalization. The first reason is that marijuana will cost lots of money. However, I don't think marijuana has any advantage in our usual life valuable for people to pay for it. The second reason is that everyone knows marijuana does a damage on human on both physical and mental sides. The third and the most important reason is that marijuana can make people be lazy and be tired of real life. Parents may no longer take the responsibility of their children. Students may no longer concentrate on study. Workers may no longer work hard. Then, our country will be like a chaos. That's what we don't like to see. Thus, I think marijuana should be banned.

  7. Japanese law for drugs is very strict and people aren't allowed using any illegal drugs. If a person just has marihuana or other drugs, he or she is arrested even if he or she doesn’t use it. People are banned to use marijuana even for a medical method. I don’t think the law for marijuana will be changed in the future. But I don’t think marijuana has only bad effects. Marijuana doesn’t have a strong addiction unlike other drugs and some researches show that marijuana has good efficacy as healing disease such as Alzheimer and depression. Therefore, I think marijuana should be allowed to use only for a medical method.

    1. I think there's many drugs that can replace the function of marijuana in medicine way. If it is allowed to use for medicine purpose that it will become much easier to get. It might cause more problems.

  9. It's a tricky question since marijuana has a positive side on the medical treating area. But in the general idea, I don't think that marijuana should be legalized in my own country - China since the bad influence still way overcomes the positive part.
It may cause teenagers even sometimes adults to lose their concentration on their academic or job performance. Not to mention they might start to get addicted and turn their life into the wrong path.
Plus legalize marijuana may also more people to commit crime so they can have the money to buy drugs. The last thing we want to see is that legalize certain laws or rules might cause some serious negative effect.
So in conclusion, I don't think that legalize marijuana is a good idea for my country

  10. Drugs in all of its use will not be legalized in Saudi Arabia and I think it should not be. Also, I do not believe that such things should be taken to be voted. However, many rules prevent Marijuana from being legalized in Saudi Arabia, to which I totally agree with.
