Looking back on how you spent your college or high school years, if you could change things, what would you change? What would you have done differently? What would you have kept the same?
There are also many good aspects for your coming here. You can learn English more quickly here and also it is more easily for you to improve your speaking skills. After all, you can't change your choice. Everything will be better.
Generally, i say the same as carlos has said i am happy with what i have done up untill now. but, i will imagine. so, I would have started my college in the US. I would have come here earlier. I would have studied my major in English. I would have worked before i came here first as a lawyer. I could have worked actually . but i decided to continue my education. I would have kept studying my major Law.
All of us have hopes about doing things that happened in the past differently if we get the chance. But what we have now is familiarizing ourselves with the current situation and benefit from our experiences in the future. Good luck Bro!
I was not a good student in my college years rather than my high school years. If one thing that I would like to change is to attend all the classes as I can. I skipped many classes of my major. Sometimes I overslept, sometimes I was just too lazy to leave my warm and cute bed and attend class due to bad weathers. I could pass almost every courses I took so I chose to skip classes. I would never know if I could obtain more in those courses. It was the thing if I could have changed. However, there is still something that I would keep doing it. It was about my part-time job. I made good friends and learned thinking in a different way from my job. I worked in drink shop like OLD TEA HOUSE. The people there treated me very well and I enjoyed the time I spent with them. I would never regret to work there.
Well, that is a hard way to learn lessons, but as you are still young you would be able to improve by yourself. Just keep in mind that you can study now with an adult point of view, and you might retrieve those missed classes.
Sometimes there's something is more important than studying, like developing social experiences. I've never worked part-time job and that's one of mt regret in my school life.
well, just saying, I didn't attend all my classes back in college either..lol, sometimes I knew I was smart enough to pass the exam so why bother to go to the lecture? That's something I should learned too so you are not the only one
Many things came to my mind while thinking of the answer, one of which is improving my English earlier. As soon as I started my English course in the U.S., I realized that being a fluent in any language takes longer time than I expected. Therefore, what I would like to have done differently is learning English earlier.
I agree with you Talal, nevertheless I think that working by yourself, finding things to do related to that which you want to learn, would help you in the learning process. Like music or literature, that would have been a good advice earlier!
I really want to be a fluent speaker too. I didn't have enough opportunity to speak English in my county. So I practice my listening by watching grey's anatomy which is one of my favorite dramas. But it seems to be useless. T^T
If I can go back to my life in high school, I want to stduy more and I want to decide my future by myself. Actually I wanted to major the arts, but I couldn't because of my teachers and parents. I'm satisfied with and interested in my major but I still have regret. Also looking back my life in university, I should have enjoyed more, like joining club and doing something that only I can do while in university. and I've came here as an exchage student from my university in Korea. I considered and I was worreid about this choice, because I thought that it's too late to study abroad. But I'm happy and I'm enjoying my life in US. If I go back to by the time, I would make same decision.
It will never be late if you want to get involved with arts. Actually I have friends whose major in arts, and now she is in France to study arts. However she is really worried about her job, because it is hard to live on arts in my country. I have to say it is a tough way to insist your dream, since everyone had their thoughts and tried to stop you in this way.
I am not sure about having much regrets during my college or high school years, academically speaking. I was not the worst student, and that was good enough for me. I think I did everything I could have done. Although, I think that being a more social teenager would have been better for me. Sometimes I find myself thinking that I could have missed some opportunities for socialization with peers, but college years were way better, and I consider that I learned my lesson. Now I take every chance I get to meet new people. If it wouldn't have been for my years of self withdraw my passion for working with adolescents might not be present.
I really agree with you! I am not a really sociable person and I lose many opportunities to meet people. I need to change myself to a socaible person like you:)
In college, I am belonging to women’s lacrosse team of my college. That affects on me very much and I learn a lot of things such as not playing sports but manners. If I had not played it, my college life would have been completely different and I would not have gone to college regularly. Then, in high school, I had been studied English enthusiastically, but in college, I hadn’t done like when I was in high school. If I had continued to study English very hard, my English skill would have improved more. When I had to make decisions many times, I had regretted them every time. But I think every decision is not wrong and a decision I chose is best choice for me. Therefore, I make an effort to have confidence for my decisions.
I always think that my high school and college year are a blast. I've made so many friends and had the craziest time ever.
The thing I don't want to change is the eager to absorb knowledge and new things. That's the part that I'm so proud of myself. Through the entire 8 years(3 years high school+5 years college)of school time, keep pushing myself and learning new things are kind like a necessity to me. Consider that I'll keep my academic career in the U.S, I think I should stay hungry, stay foolish.
The thing I regret the most during my school year? Probably taking my second Major and B.A degree in economy. That's not something I can see myself doing in the future but my parents persuaded me into taking this and it cost me to stay in college for an extra year to get it and totally ruined my schedule and personal life while back in college. Before leaving China and heading to the U.S for a higher education, I talked to my parents for letting me choose what I want to learn instead of listening to them about taking which major could be easier for scoring a job.
If I could go back to my high school life, I would also choose to study abroad. However, I will prepare for my TOEFL scores during my vacation but no longer waste one whole year on such a test. For Chinese students, the last year in high school is the most valuable time in our study experience. During this period, we must concentrate all ourselves on studying and as a result, relationship and anything interesting can make us deeply impress. The moment when we finished our high school must be one of the happiest moments in our life. On the contrast, I didn't experience anyone of these. This is also the worst choice I've ever made. If I can experience that again, I will choose to study the same subjects as my friends. I will try my best to finish my high school with a good grade. I will finish my TOEFL test during my spare time. I will take GaoKao before I come here. I will share my GaoKao scores with my friends and get a Chinese University's admission. After that, I will permit myself to come here. I believe I can achieve these if I go back to my high school years.

Yes, you're right Mulhim!
DeleteCarlos is already rich within himself!
I believe that What you can do in the present will lead in the end to what you wish to be, if you paid the needed attention.

DeleteYes Talal! i agree! it takes longer than we expect some times.

You are right learnings new language is very difficult we shouldn't rush and get used to it step by step then we can be a fluent speaker.

DeleteI have the same idea as you. A long progress does can bring us more time to study. However, we can also achieve that if we study harder now.
